Localizado na serra de Sintra, o Parque e Palácio da Pena são o fruto do génio criativo do rei Fernando II e a maior expressão do romantismo do século XIX, em Portugal, denotando claras influências dos estilos manuelino e árabe na arquitectura. O palácio foi construído de tal forma a ser visível a partir de qualquer ponto do parque, que consiste em uma floresta e jardins luxuriantes, com mais de quinhentas espécies diferentes de árvores originárias dos quatro cantos da terra.
